Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP is an acronym for Partial Hospitalization Program. This level of care allows for clients to engage in a very intensive high level of care and services while not living at a residential facility. PHP typically involves a minimum of 20 plus hours a week of addiction services.
PHP is a good option for those stepping down from residential care for clients who need a little more support before starting IOP. PHP normally requires that clients attend at least 5 hours per day of programming, 5 days per week, and is used to acclimate the client to life outside of residential treatment.
In early recovery, it is important to maintain structure for the client, which can be achieved with PHP. PHP keeps them busy for 5-6 hours per day, but also allows time for other things such as preparing for employment, attending 12 step meetings, and engaging in sober leisure activities. PHP is less restrictive than residential care, but provides for less idle time than Intensive Outpatient, which is typically only three hours per day.
Clients in PHP will meet weekly with our Nurse Practitioner and bi-weekly with our attending Medical Director.

A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a slight step down from residential treatment program where patients commute to treatment rather than living at a facility. This enables clients to receive a very high level of care while still being able to sleep in their own beds each night. PHP involves 20 hours or more of addiction services each week. The length of stay is assessed weekly by your clinician and the treatment team. Our entire treatment program is heavily focused on individualized care.

Learn MoreGroups meet 3 times per week, either in the daytime or in the evening. Additionally, each client meets with their therapist at least twice a month individually. This level of care is ALANA’s primary focus. Our Master level therapists assist each client in understanding the physical and psychological factors which contribute to their addiction and how to implement therapeutic techniques in their everyday lives.
